Schnozzer
& Tatertoes Series
written by Rick Stromoski
The end of
the year is fast approaching, and summer reading will soon be here! As you
wander your library, checking to make sure you have the best selection of
adventure books for summer reading, here are a few that may not yet be on your
shelves.
Schnozzer
& Tatertoes are two best buddies that go on many adventures. “In Take a
Hike!” the two hike to visit the puppy farm where Schnozzer was born. As the
pair travel through the forest, they
encounter fairy tale characters such as The Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding
Hood, and Hansel and Gretel. They also encounter quicksand. Tatertoes saves
Schnozzer with quick thinking and his always-present yo-yo.
The humor is
continuous and is sure to keep readers engaged until the very end. For example,
when Schnozzer hears Tatertoes say there are “no spiders” he hears nose spiders
and spends the night sleeping with pinecones in his nose. What child can’t
relate to that!
“Travel is made fun with two
excellent new characters off on their first quest.” - Kirkus Review
In “Shoot the
Moon!”, our two buddies visit the Air & Space Museum, looking for a
new adventure. The two are on a quest to learn something new but soon are
chasing an errant yo-yo into an active space capsule. Tatertoes and Schnozzer
activate the space capsule and are shot into space. Landing on the moon, they
meet moon dwellers who want all the junk from the Apollo missions cleaned up.
They also save Earth from an asteroid.
“A first purchase for most
collections, this will keep young readers laughing and engaged all the way to
space and back.” – School Library Journal
